A modern transformation to the perfect backyard garden
With plenty of room to burn and long overdue for some updating, this central suburban property was crying out for some landscaping ideas to create clean lines and defined spaces in their property - a modern touch.
Our brief was to work around the existing pool and spa and create a nicer area that they would want to use and enjoy, and give a sense of space to the lawn and garden areas, incorporating a new garage and parking area to flow seamlessly.
After establishing these criteria the clients decided to disappear overseas for 2 months, leaving us to all the hard work, whilst keeping up with progress via emailed photos-the modern touch.
The old paving around the pool was replaced with modern coloured concrete pads bordered by some of the old pavers recoloured, dividing it into sections and creating more room to enjoy the pool area.
With attractive new pool fencing added, the garden and lawn areas took on a new dimension of space.
Lawns were recontoured and revamped, the Butia palm moved from the centre of the lawn and lush border planting created and enhanced for a sense of enclosure, whilst open lawn areas helped in creating that feeling of space.
The project was completed with new decking, steps and concrete planters, softened with low level planting so as not to restrict the view of the garden and pool, with the exception of the large structural multi-trunk Yucca E. underplanted with Yucca 'garlands gold' for a touch of drama.
And with new outdoor lighting adding a touch of romance and beauty for those balmy summer nights and outdoor occasions, it all came together.
And on the clients return... a collective sigh of relief... a modern transformation!
