recent projects A Blank Canvas From raw beginnings as one of the first houses in a suburban sub division, this property was in its most basic state. A blank canvas. Wet clay and mud were what confronted us and the task could have been rather daunting, so with consultation with the client a plan was developed to transform the humble beginnings into a home to enjoy. The client wanted a garden and outdoor living areas giving the affect of permanency and to establish a sense of belonging as soon as possible. Being a sloping section, a lot of retaining was necessary to attain level areas, protect the house and gain adequate side access Functional, structural elements such as driveways, paths, concrete patio planters and steps were initially introduced to ensure the flow of movement and accessability. Decking platforms were created to interspace with river pebble path as an interesting and rustic link to the upper area deceptively screened by a peek-a-boo wall.
