Country Manor
A large rambling garden with good bones but needing some refinement and detail was the order of the day for this large suburban property with its grand house and expansive outlook.

It was important to the client that the garden incorporated an old family heirloom , the very classic concrete birdbath with mosaic interior, and so it was manoeuvred carefully into position, upon threat of death should damage occur, as the centrepiece in the village stone paved circle created in a prominent position.
Wide access, steps using genuine old railway sleepers and the clients existing old pavers, were created down the side of the house to link the living area of the house to the expanse of lawn and gardens at the front.
The old brick planter was constructed to mirror the shape of the birdbath feature and gives some shape and detail to a previously neglected part of the garden. Classic grouped port wine magnolia planting completes the picture for this part of the garden.
A nicely curved flat paved area links the garden to an old existing and slightly worse for wear timber pergola with a wooden bench underneath to retreat from the ravages of a hot summers day, and surrounded by the shade of newly envigorated woodland planting, in and around some of the more established old trees in the garden.
